Mclaren M29 F1 ex Alain Prost
The McLaren M29 F1 car was first raced during the 1979 season and was a solid improvement on the previous M28 design. With greater emphasis on the underfloor aerodynamics, and a much neater and efficient bodywork this car was instantly more competitive. In addition improved suspension layout also increased mechanical and aerodynamic grip.
Finished in the iconic Rocket Red and white livery made famous by the Marlboro-McLaren partnership, the M29 was the first Grand Prix Car driven by Alain Prost, who scored World Championship points in his first 2 races in 1980. Powered by a Ford Cosworth DFV engine – the benchmark in F1 in 1980 and still the preferred engine for historic racing today.
Chassis 4 was the first of 2 M29C specification cars built for the 1980 season and was slightly lighter than the earlier M29 and M29B spec chassis. Driven by future 4 time World Champion Alain Prost, John Watson and Andrea de Cesaris during its GP life, this car has been raced in the USA by its previous owners for a number of years.
Complete with a large spares package including bodywork, underfloor, suspension and brake components, not to mention wheels, this car has been thoroughly maintained with no expense spared. Recently completed FIA HTP papers (2012), the car is available to view in the UK, and is eligible and competitive in Masters Historic Grand Prix races in the USA or Masters FIA Formula 1 in Europe.
