Our extremely rare and pristine Airstream Bambi has been completely renovated to a high standard with every effort made to keep her as original as possible. She has been sympathetically modernised to bring her into the 21st century. We believe she is the only one of this standard in the UK.
She was built in Jackson, Ohio USA in 1963 and imported to the UK around 3 years ago.
The interior was completely stripped out, including the floor which was replaced with marine plywood and the chassis was given an overhaul, strengthened and rustproofed.
The bulk of the interior woodwork is original and was rubbed down, oiled and painstakingly replaced. We only replaced what was unsalvageable. The seating has been reupholstered by a professional company who usually fit the interiors of private aircraft. She was also given a professional polish. We have the kit to maintain her shine, which will be included in the sale.
There is a wardrobe, numerous cupboard and drawer space and a table which is removable. One sofa pulls out to 4′ 6inches and sleeps 2 comfortably, the other sofa can sleep a child or small adult.
There is a new combi boiler (gas or electric), providing hot water to the kitchen and shower, an electric fridge with a small freezer compartment and 2 ring gas hob.
She has been re-plumbed throughout including new water tank and plastic piping throughout.
A demand water pump has been fitted that provides near mains pressure to the kitchen sink and shower.
The original flush toilet was replaced with a flushable Thetford cassette toilet and the brown water tank has been removed. There is now an external grey portable water tank, servicing the sink and shower.
The existing hot water tank was replaced with a gas/electric combi boiler.
The bathroom houses the cassette toilet and shower with original shower tray (re-gelled and nonslip finish).
She was also totally rewired (certified to UK standard) which includes plugs with USB points and a 240v hookup and 12v leisure battery. There is also a small electric fan heater.
The windows have all been reglazed and renovated with the original insect mesh replaced and a new skylight fitted.
The exterior running lights have been replaced with original new old stock and all exterior lights are 12v LED, controlled by an interior switch.
The tow hitch is the original US 1 inch, however we have a bespoke convertor which allows it to be towed by a European 50mm tow hitch, which will be included in the sale.
